EXHIBITION

Here! Are some photos of my offerings for the end of degree exhibition at CPIT, up for another day or two. I am so very close now to finishing this whole "Bachelor of Design" thing.

Pictured:

• The "grand" unveiling of my new book, The Boy Who Was An Octopus, along with larger copies of selected pages from the book. Put together by hand, this thing was a nightmare to finish, but actually nightmare is the wrong word because that would imply that I managed to get any sleep. Also it was actually super fun to make, it just took a while I guess. Is decidedly more worse for wear than when I initially put it on display. I put this down to it being brutishly man-handled throughout the duration of the exhibition rather than shoddy workmanship, because that makes me feel better. It may also be true.
• Illustrations inspired by Slaughterhouse Five created for a project earlier in the year.
• Renders of a 3D digital head created in Maya in various poses.

 

Hoping to get a print run of TBWWAAO soon (when I can afford it).

goat thing

I tire a little of drawing this thing... this silly Goat-Thing, created as an ode to ye olde Disney animation for a course project. The Plus Side: it will be quite satisfying animating its skin being pulled off, which happens at the end of this thing's 10 second spot. It's not gross because it's a cartoon.

Golden beard

 

3D model: man with golden beard, rotating gently. Made in Maya for a course project.
Will return to him when I am stronger in Maya, when I know what I am doing. Then nothing will be able to stop the full golden force of his power-beard.

i live in the ocean

I said yesterday that today I would post something else related to that cruel mistress the ocean, and I aint no liar. Been flat out trying to finish creating the above man in the elusive 3rd dimension. These attempts have been hampered by the unfortunate fact that I do not know what I am doing.

I'm getting a little frustrated, but overusing italics helps a little to calm my nerves. A little.

tired and hungry

The other two illustrations- ink on paper, coloured in Photoshop, as a course project at CPIT. Based on the wonderful  cult pseudo-sci-fi Kurt Vonnegut book Slaughterhouse Five or The Children's Crusade: A duty Dance With Death. Or, I dunno, inspired by the book at least and designed to, I hope, compliment it. Who knows any more, I've been looking at them far too long and I'm tired and hungry.

Beefy Birdy Rainbow Funtimes

An animation created entirely in After Effects as part of a course at CPIT. I can't claim to have adhered too closely to the project brief on this one... nor would I, even if I had.

It has a rainbow? Also: some birds! Also: a birthday! Yours? ...maybe!

That no-good embedding just wouldn't work for me- it keeps cropping out the right-hand side, so it may well be best just to go here.
