Father and Sun

The grey looked too flat so I overlaid a shitty grungy texture. I have very mixed feelings about it and it needs more work but I'm about ready to move on so.... moving on. Trying to make the flashlight/ texture work made me remember how poor I am at using Adobe Photoshop (decidedly average).

Father and Sun/ Son (Pun).

No you can't come out yet & Birthday Cake

Two images I have yet to really "do" anything with, as there really isn't that much that can be done with them. "So," I thought, "I shall put them on my BLOG!" And so I put them on my blog, because that is what my blog is for, I think. To give a home to things that otherwise would not have one, so that they may be seen by one-several people.

Happy birthday man in box/ angry cake.

Pizza Tales part six

Every one of these I draw, the hungrier I get.
Also: every one of these I draw, a little piece of me withers and dies from the part of my mind that still grasps at the belief that I may one day achieve some crude sense of artistic credibility.

Pizza Tales part one redux

Sometimes I am forced to take a moment, step back and reevaluate exactly how I spend my spare time. Today, while redrawing a terrible comic I drew last year sometime about a wanted pizza I was forced to do just this. Course starts back in a week or so, and then I will be a busy beaver. Until then I will probably continue to draw pizza and feel oddly guilty about it.

This comic was redrawn so as to be stylistically consistent with the other Pizza Tales. Honestly, I'm not sure exactly why I bothered, there are so many things on my to-do list that are much more important.

TRUCK

Dearest reader(s), this is what a truck looks like. Amazed? Understandably.

Plane Girl

Just because.

The early stages of a silly animation.

Morgan Freeman

For whatever reason, I have attempted to draw Morgan Freeman. I spent a great deal of time on another picture before this drawn in charcoal pencil which will never see the light of day because it is too terrible even for a blog. It was an attempt at a realistic drawing, but it just ended up wacky and out of proportion. It's been far too long since I did any "real" drawing- I've spent too much time drawing silly comics. Morgan Freeman is awesome to draw because it doesn't matter how bad your picture is, so long as you remember to include the dots then people will know who it is. I recommend everybody draws Morgan Freeman.

Grew a Beard

Hey! I have a beard. Maybe this comic is actually autobiographical? I'll never tell.

One of my dreams has always been to be the proud owner of a glorious beard. Unfortunately sheer will alone does not a beard grow, and in times of stress I've developed a frustrating habit of subconsciously plucking hairs from my chin. It's a little gross, but the unexpected silver lining is that my nails are longer than ever before! You know, because I've substituted fingernail-biting with beardhair-plucking, in case that wasn't clear. Soon I'll be able to scratch things and pick up change when I drop it on the ground, rather than spending days stooped over the pavement fumbling for a shiny 50 cent piece I'm too stubborn to just let go.

Thrilling stuff.

Child on a Stool Has Problems

King Of Sports

SPORTS.

For a while now I've been signing my comics with an enigmatic "SQ." This is probably because I haven't liked them very much. This one, on the other hand, was signed with the full "SQUIRES." This does not necessarily mean that I like it, but it does mean that I don't dislike it enough to omit my full signature. Let's see if I can produce more things I like enough to sign in the near future.

CALH-TSHIRT DESIGN

THIS be a T Shirt I designed for Campus A Low Hum 2010. Now, I feel I need to elaborate on the usage of two of the words in that sentence. Firstly, it was hardly "designed"... it was doodled. Secondly it was not "for" Campus A Low Hum. It was for me and in no way endorsed by or affiliated with CALH in anyway, I merely appropriated their acronym for my own purposes. Now, I have a new shirt. I wore it for two out of the three days CALH was on, and may not wear it again.

OR! Maybe I will wear it always.

I am quite proud of my disembodied hands.

Serene Campsite- Sketch

This particular robot was drawn at Campus A Low Hum on a lovely morning I simply was too hungover to enjoy. It made sense at the time, and somehow survived the trip back to Christchurch. It took about 6 minutes, give or take. Had I felt up to moving from the camp site I could have had Dent May and his lavishly bearded friend sing away my hangover with their brand of polite, good-feeling banjo sounds from where they were playing- in the building to the left of the robot. Instead I drew a robot.
